Well...sometimes if we love too deep we will get hurt instead no matter how much that person loves you...But if we really love then we have to appreciate it lor and stay strong if something goes wrong...
After reading this, I am amazed at how much mandarin I've retained over the past, what, 5 years? and still be able to read and understand. :D Ok, fine, I admit that I did stumble on a few occasions on those somewhat familiar but yet, foreign characters while reading your entry but nevertheless, I think I get the gist of it. :]
I think, personally, that if you have a chance to love (and what a blessed gift that is), love with all your heart. But the real question now lies in the four letter word "love"; what is love, really?
The bible says in 1 Corinthians 13:4-7,
"Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres."
Even though this verse is so widely used that it has become such a cliche that it is often given a glance without much thought, I think this is the very essence of what love is. But of course, when you look at it, the list can be somewhat overwhelming and seem humanly impossible to achieve but through the love of God, we can.
I think the word 'love' has been too commercialised by the media and is often taken lightly. We often head into a relationship blindly with the opposite sex just all in the name of, well, conformity. The media tells us its cool and you'll be cooler if you're in one. And what? because of that, we end up getting hurt because it wasn't genuine. And if you're not in one, they tell you that you are lonely and unwanted. And the sad thing is that we believe that. I'm not saying that this is the case for you, but, well, yeah.
Our modern day society has been living in this mindset for so long that we, often fail to realise that love does not only lie in the opposite sex but also with our families, friends, your neighbours, yourself... God. :] The people we often take for granted but was there through the thick and thin of our lives, offering comfort, support and love.
Anyways, I think I'm going to stop here before this comment gets a bit too lengthy and blog-like. :/

Vern-haha...your comment is definitely long...you can go start a blog yourself already...haha...what you've written is very GOOD !! What you say is very right...Especially the media commercialized love that paragraph...Well...LOVE is always complicated....
